Review: Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket

*AD | Simba is at the forefront of sleep technology innovation and enhancing sleep quality. Their Orbit weighted blanket lives up to this reputation, providing a sleep experience that's both comfortable and luxurious.

Read on for my review of the blanket and all the reasons why it's sure to be a great addition to your sleep routine.

The Orbit strikes a delicate balance in terms of weight. I'd describe it as having the "Goldilocks weight" - it's neither too heavy nor too light, but just right. Weighing in at 6.8kg (15lbs), the blanket offers substantial heft without feeling oppressive, making it ideal for creating a sense of calm and security.

The blanket's dimensions are 135x200cm, which fits well on a single bed. However, it’s worth noting that taller people might find it a tad short, particularly if they prefer to be fully covered from head to toe when lying down. It would also be great to see the blanket offered in other sizes as it's currently only available in a single size. Despite this minor drawback, the size is generally adequate for most users and doesn't detract from its overall effectiveness.

One of the standout features of the Orbit weighted blanket is its use of nanobeads for weighted technology. These beads are covered by a cushioned layer, ensuring a smooth and comfortable surface. Unlike some weighted blankets where the weight can be felt through the fabric, Simba's design prevents this which makes the blanket feel like a seamless, heavy quilt. Another plus is the removable, machine-washable cover. It's made from 100% cotton, ensuring hygiene and breathability.

Comfort and relaxation are at the core of the Orbit's design. The even distribution of weight helps prevent restlessness, resulting in a deeper and more restful sleep. This phenomenon, known as deep pressure therapy, is pivotal in stimulating a calming process that regulates the heartbeat, relaxes muscles, and eases the mind. By encouraging the nervous system to switch from a ‘fight or flight’ state to ‘rest and relax,’ the blanket can significantly reduce stress and anxiety levels.

One thing to bear in mind is that the blanket can get quite warm, making it less suitable for use during the summer or in hot weather. Admittedly that's not often a problem here in the UK, but this is a point worth considering for those who tend to overheat at night.

Priced at £169, the Orbit weighted blanket is at the higher end of the market. Yet, considering Simba’s reputation and the proven benefits of its sleep technology, it's a solid investment. The blanket arrives well-packaged in a quality Simba-branded box, delivered swiftly and efficiently by a third-party courier. The quality finish and the understated grey colour of the blanket itself provide a premium, minimalistic look to complement any bedroom decor.

For those new to weighted blankets, it might take a few days to adjust to the unique sensation. However, I think I'd find it difficult to go back to a regular blanket now, having got used to the comfort and calm the Orbit provides.

The Orbit weighted blanket is a testament to Simba’s commitment to enhancing sleep quality through innovative technology. If you're looking to invest in a weighted blanket that promises better sleep and overall relaxation, the Orbit is certainly a strong choice.

Note: The Simba Orbit weighted blanket is not suitable for children or those with circulatory issues.

The Simba Orbit weighted blanket is available to buy online for £169, with free delivery.
