AD* | Since becoming a homeowner nearly two years ago, I've become increasingly aware of just how much time, effort, and money it takes to keep a property looking its best. Whether it's the usual cleaning routine or general maintenance tasks, there's always something that needs doing around the house or garden!
But when it comes to those bigger projects and home improvements, what's best to do? What should you prioritise? If you're on the lookout for a larger-scale renovation project next year, keep on reading for three of my top home improvement ideas for 2020.
1. Solid Wood Flooring
If you want a new feel to your home but don't necessarily want to completely redesign and renovate a room, upgrading your flooring is one easy way to achieve a fresh look.
One of my favourite types of flooring is solid wood. Attractive, easy to clean, and practical throughout the house, solid wood flooring could be just the addition that your home needs. No matter what shade or style you choose, it's bound to add a brand-new perspective to your home. Solid wood flooring also adds value and makes a solid investment - ideal for saving those pennies in the long run!
2. Loft Conversion
Feeling up to a challenge in the New Year? If your property has a loft or roof space that is currently unused, consider a loft conversion project to maximise space and add value to your home.
While this kind of project is certainly not for the faint-hearted, with the right resource, time, and funds, a loft conversion could easily prove to be one of the most valuable home improvements you undertake. Whether you plan to utilise the area for additional storage capabilities or hope to transform the roof into a light, airy living space, this is a big project that is sure to bring bigger rewards!
3. Garden Ideas
If you're starting to feel cooped up in the house by the time 2020 arrives, why not consider a refresh for your garden? Spend the winter planning and gathering ideas, and then by the time spring finally rolls around, you'll be ready to revolutionalise your garden or outdoor area!
The project that you choose to undertake will largely depend on the size of your outdoor space and what you intend to use the garden for in the long term. Will it be a pristine lawn, a children's play area, a colourful mass of flowers, or simply somewhere to sit and relax on those warm summer evenings? Don't be afraid to get creative and try out different ideas - it's your garden, after all!
Of course, these are just a handful of the millions of possible renovation projects that you could undertake. Dream big and work hard - your home is your sanctuary, so it's important that it both looks good and makes you feel good about living there.
So, if your home is feeling the worst of the winter blues, why not consider one of these ideas to spruce it up in 2020?

Are you planning any home improvement projects in the New Year? Let me know in the comments below!
We've just repossessed our home after 9 years of living abroad, we've already had a loft conversion and currently having it redecorated plain white throughout and will have new flooring and are considering wooden flooring in the lounge to go with the hall and dining room rather than carpet. As for the garden, it's being reclaimed and we're planning what we can do with it all. #pocolo
