Today, I'm opening up the doors to our home for the final time (for now, at least) and giving you a unique insight into my study and my personal workspace. This is the one room in the house that I had complete free reign over, so I'm excited to hear what you make of it.

When we were looking for our perfect home, we knew that we wanted a house that was big enough for us to each have our own room. It may seem a little extravagant, given that we were first-time buyers, but we knew that we both value our own space so it was important for us to have that option for privacy.
After we had settled on the house, I chose one of the spare bedrooms as my room. I'd even started considering how I wanted it to look before we completed on the house, I was that eager!
This is the room where I spend a good chunk of my time, and where I'm sitting now to write this post. It's also the room where I keep some of my most personal possessions and a lot of the things I brought with me from my old bedroom.
As I knew this would be the place where I needed to work and be creative, I wanted to encourage that positive mindset as much as possible. I ummed and ahhed over a wide range of colours for the walls before eventually picking a very bright green on the spur of the moment when we were shopping for paint for the bedroom walls. Despite it being dubbed 'Asda Green' by our friends, I love the colour and I think it creates the perfect base for the rest of the room.
The curtains were another impulse decision - they're silver-blue and made of quite a heavy, thick fabric. They shouldn't really work with the bright green walls, but I love the effect it creates! I picked up a knit-effect lampshade in a similar pale grey-blue shade to complement it, but above all, the mishmash of colours perfectly encapsulates my aim for the room, which is to be bright, bold, and full of what makes me happy.
The desk and chair are from my old bedroom, as is the purple Scottie dog rug. Again, I can't wait to replace the carpet, but small steps are necessary when you're on a budget! I also installed my electric keyboard in the corner by the window, giving me the perfect opportunity to keep the space as creative as possible.
I'm particularly happy with the feature wall of frames, prints and photographs above my desk. None of the frames match, there's no discernible order to the chaos and the overflowing noticeboard dominates the entire scene. It's chaotic, colourful, and wonderful.
However, it's the opposite wall that steals the show and so far, it has not failed to make anyone exclaim when they see it for the first time!
It's no secret that I love books, and over the years, it's fair to say that I've accumulated quite a few of them. Well... maybe more than just a few! I always knew that I wanted wall-to-wall bookshelves, and this was the perfect opportunity to install them. Thanks to the help of some wonderful relatives, we worked together to measure the space, buy the materials, stain the wood and custom-build the shelves exactly the way I wanted them. All that was left was to choose which books would go where!
I don't know about you, but I absolutely adore the way my workspace and this room have turned out. It's so nice to have such an inspiring place to sit and work in, where I'm surrounded by bright colours, books, and things that make me happy.
